Scientists Observe Earth Day in Patna
Patna: April 22, 2007
Noted physicians and scientists under the joint banner of Indian Doctor's for Peace and Development and Sri Krishna Science Center in Patna organized a seminar on various environmental issues to mark the Earth Day on Sunday.
In his lecture, Ramon Magsaysay award winner Sandeep Pandey said that in today's world, people needed to readjust their attitude towards environmental issues and better usage of energy to maintain a balance between the nature and scientific advances.
"Only by using energy effectively and efficiently, we can hope to have a truly developed world. It is a shame that while most villages in India continue to remain without electricity, big metros in the nation continue to waste energy with such callousness," he lamented.
Pandey also grieved over improper usage of nuclear technology by many countries and disapproved of Indo-US nuclear agreement saying it was not in the long term interest of India.
The welcome message was delivered by Dr. A. K. Gaur and presided over by DR. S. L. Mandal.
