Businessman Reported Abducted Found Murdered

Patna: April 30, 2007

The Patna police on Monday recovered the charred body of 33-year old Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Danapur who went missing late Sunday night, from Jamal Road in Patna, DSP Sachivalaya Sridhar Mandal said.

According to the reports, Rajesh, a rice dealer who also liked to buy and sell used motorcycles, was last seen with Patna police Pawan Singh.

Allegedly, Rajesh, accompanied by a motorcycle repairman Bhola, went to see Pawan in Shastrinagar to test drive a motorcycle. The two, leaving Bhola behind, got on the motorcycle and went for a drive. That was the last time Rajesh was seen.

When he failed to return home, his wife and other family members filed a report of abduction with Shashtrinagar police station.

On Monday, during a routine patrolling, the police found the body of Rajesh from Jamal Road. During the preliminary investigation it appeared Rajesh was first strangled to death and then to cover his identity, the killer burnt his face.

Family members identified his body by the clothes he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.

The police have arrested Pawan Singh in the case. Initially, it was reported that he was deployed outside the Chief Minister's residence but later the police said he was deputed at the roundabout near the Raj Bhawan.
