FIR against Man for Repeated Rapes
Patna: Aug. 1, 2007
The police in Patna, on Wednesday, filed an FIR against Ajay Rai, a brick kiln owner, after an unmarried adivasi mother accused him of repeated rape and fathering her only child while also charging him of breaking the promise to marry her.
The woman, whose name was not revealed because of safety reasons, during her meet with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of police on Wednesday, said she came to Patna from Jharkhand in 2004 in search of job. She met with Rai who gave her a job at his brick kiln in Digha but then she was repeatedly raped by her employer as a result of which she became pregnant and gave birth to a girl.
When she filed a complaint against Rai with the Digha police station, he was arrested but soon released on bail while she was put in a remand home, the woman said.
"Thankfully my father rescued me from the remand home and took me back to my village in Jharkhand. However, three years later I came back to Patna in the hope of marrying Rai but once again he fooled me by promising to marry me and forced me to engage in sexual activities with him," the woman told the police.
On Wednesday, the woman met with a DSP-rank officer who accompanied her to the SSP's office where a fresh FIR was lodged against Rai.
Meanwhile, Rai is said to have gone underground. Police are conducting raids to apprehend him, they said.
