Nitish's Trip to Mauritius 'Criminal', Says Lalu
Patna: Aug. 1, 2007
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, after conducting an air-survey of flood-affected areas on Wednesday, said the 'deliberate ignorance' of the flood victims in Bihar by the Nitish government was 'nothing short of criminal' for which the people of Bihar would never forgive Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
At a press conference in Patna, Yadav said situation in Bihar was very explosive but the state government was not at all concerned with providing adequate and timely relief to millions of flood victims who had no one to turn to since the Chief Minister himself had ran away to Mauritius to avoid his chief ministerial duties and responsibilities.
"Since the Bihar government has failed to provide relief to the flood victims, I would personally meet with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi to urge them to visit flood-affected areas in Bihar and provide immediate relief to the victims of the flood," Yadav said following an aerial survey of the flood areas.
He further said that he has appealed to the Bihar Governor to personally intervene in the flood-relief operations and call an all-party meet on Bihar flood since the 'Chief Minister has chosen to spend his Monsoon' in Mauritius.
Central Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh was also with Yadav during the aerial tour of the flood-affected districts.
