Deepali Returns Home amidst Warm Welcome

Patna: Aug. 13, 2007

Deepali, the Indian Idol contestant from Patna.People at Patna Airport on Monday gave a warm welcome to the 18-year old Deepali, the latest contestant to leave the national limelight of the hugely popular Indian Idol, as the young singing sensation returned to her home town full of hopes showing no sign of disappointment or regrets.

Dozens of Deepali's young fans, accompanied by her parents and a large number of other family members, greeted the girl as she came out of a Jet Airways flight on Monday night after being eliminated from the top-7 round of the Sony TV reality show.

Displaying wide smile, Deepali thanked her fans who supported her during her three-month roller-coaster stint with the Indian Idol.

"I did my best and while it was no fun being kicked out of the show at this critical juncture of the contest, I have no regrets as I have come out much stronger than I was before I was chosen for the Indian Idol," Deepali said at a brief press conference at the airport.

Predicting Emon or Amit to emerge as the next Indian Idol, Deepali said music director Anu Malik, also a judge on the reality show, had promised to give her a break in the Hindi film giving her hopes of a very bright future in the world of playback singing.

Deepali's parents once again blamed frequent power cut in Patna and flood situation in Bihar for less votes for their daughter.

"In the end, it does not matter much as Deepali has come out much stronger than ever before and that would lead to a successful career in singing for her," her parents said.
