Woman Goes Missing from Running Train

Patna: Aug. 14, 2007

Rani Archana Singh, the married daughter of Additional District and Sessions Judge of Banka Mr. Subhash Chandra, was reported to have vanished under suspicious circumstances from the New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Express on late Wednesday night as she returned to Bihar after a short visit to Darjeeling with her husband Rajiv Kumar.

As reported, the couple, after finishing their dinner at Katihar railway station at around 8:30 pm, retired on their births with the wife occupying the upper berth while the husband sleeping on the lower berth.

When Rajiv woke up around 5:00 am, he found his wife missing from her berth. Search in the compartment, including the bathrooms, proved futile.

An FIR was filed by Rani's husband at Mokama railway station.

Rani and Rajiv were married last April.

The police is looking at the case from various angles and hopes to crack the mystery soon, Railway Superintendent of Police Ajitabh Kumar said.
