New Twist in Missing Woman's Case
Patna: Aug. 17, 2007
The Railway police is now focusing on several SMS notes on the mobile of Railway engineer Rajiv Kumar Singh whose wife and the daughter of Additional District and Sessions Judge of Banka Subhash Chandra, Rani Archana Singh disappeared from a running train in Bihar last Tuesday under suspicious circumstances.
During the routine check of the cell phone of Rajiv Kumar Singh on Friday, the police stumbled into several short messages (SMS) by a woman who identifies herself only as Jimmy, railway officials said.
The messages are intimate in nature and this gives the police some direction into the disappearance of Rani Archana Singh, Railway Superintendent of Police Ajitabh Kumar said.
Rani's brother Ravishankar, when asked by the police about Jimmy, denied having any knowledge of any such girl in the life of Rajiv Singh.
Meanwhile, the police are also trying to identify and locate other passengers in the train who could prove useful to the case.
Rani, who married Singh last April, was reported missing from the New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Express last Wednesday night as the couple returned from Darjeeling after a delayed honeymoon.
As reported, the couple had their dinner at Katihar railway station at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night after which they retired for the night on their allocated berths.
At around 5:00 am, Singh woke up and found his wife missing from her berth. Search of the compartment brought no result.
Singh later filed an FIR at Mokama railway station.
