Police Raids Uncle's House in Missing Woman Case
Patna: Aug. 18, 2007
The state police in Mokama on Saturday raided a house owned by a relative of Rani Archana Singh, the daughter of a Banka judge who went missing from a running train last Wednesday under suspicious conditions, but failed to recover any clue that would shed any light on the disappearance of the woman.
The raid was conducted at Rani's maternal uncle's house in Gopaichack village in Barh though the search came up empty leaving the police still groping in dark trying to crack the case.
Railway officials on duty on the New Jalpaiguri-Patna Capital Exp. in which Rani was traveling with her husband of four months when she mysteriously vanished were also interrogated by the police but once again the police came up empty-handed, Railway Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitabh Kumar said on Saturday.
Meanwhile, it turns out that the mysterious 'Jimmy' was none other than the nephew (bhanja) of Rajiv Kumar, the missing woman's husband, and not a woman as first suspected by the police because of the nature of the SMSs found in Rajiv's mobile phone.
In another twist in the case, a body of a woman recovered on Saturday along the railway track in Katihar turned out to be not the body of Rani Archana Singh.
Rani's brother Ravishankar and other relatives, after examining the body, concluded it was not Rani's thus leaving the police a new mystery to solve about the identity of this woman.
