No Closing of Private Schools; Says CSS Chairperson
Patna: Aug. 19, 2007
At a seminar organized by the ADRI at the A. N. Sinha Institute in Patna on Sunday, Common School System (CSS) commission chairperson Muchkund Dubey, said the recommendations of the commission, once implemented, would change the face of education in Bihar as we know it today.
Proposing to implement in April 2008, Dubey said it would need a revolution of sort to bring the commission's recommendations to reality and once implemented, it would help raise the standard of education that would affect students coming from all caste and creed.
Dubey, during the Q&A session, categorically rejected the report in the media that the commission had proposed to shut down all private schools in Bihar.
"This was never in the agenda though there is a proposal to bring the private schools in the gamut of Common School System to make the playing field level for children from varied background," Dubey said.
"It is a commonly known fact that private school owners first check out the economic and social status of the parents before admitting a student in their school. The commission's proposal, once implemented will help eliminate such disparities," Common School System commission member and the chief secretary of the Human Resources department Dr. Madan Mohan Jha said.
