Six Criminals Held Planning their Next Big Act

Patna: Aug. 19, 2007

The police in Alamganj in Patna City on Sunday, acting on a tip-off, arrested six criminals and seized two country-made pistols and three live cartridges thus foiling their attempt to put their next act of crime in action, Patna City DSP Suresh Chowdhary said.

A briefcase containing clothes of a businessman who the gang had recently robbed was also recovered from the criminals' possession.

Talking to the media, Chowdhary said the criminals, under intense police grilling, admitted of committing a number of crimes in the region including the armed robbery of businessman Shiv Prakash Sundarka and the burglary-hostage drama at the residence of liquor store owner Abhay Kumar whose domestic help was tied up for hours as the criminals turned the house inside-out.

"These people were planning to put their next big plan into action that involved robbing a businessman of Rs. 2 lakh. The list of their victims is quite impressive with names of many prominent businessmen and ordinary citizens that they robbed over a period of last 12-15 months, Alamganj police station in-charge K. K. Singh said.
