Railway Ticket Reservation at Patna Petrol Pump

Patna: Aug. 24, 2007

Railway Ticket Reservation at Patna Petrol Pump. Photo by Shashi UttamPatna became the first city in Bihar on Friday when the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) opened its first ticket reservation counter at a petrol pump at Saguna Mor with much fanfare in the presence of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) state general manager Abhay Jha.

Jha said the reservation counter at the Ritwik Petro Pump was the result of a new agreement reached between the IOC and the IRCTC that would allow such counters to be opened at various locations throughout Bihar with the goal to promote tourism and simplify the process of railway ticket reservation.

Soon four more counters would be opened at four local gas agencies in Patna, he said.

The first ticket was purchased by one Ravikant Singh who proudly displayed his ticket to the media photographers.

Several senior IOC officials and gas pump owners were present on the occasion.
