Patna: Aug. 25, 2007

Over 20 people were said to be injured when a private bus coming to Patna from Hajipur on late Saturday night fell 15 feet in a rainwater-filled ditch after the driver lost control of the vehicle on the New Bypass Road near Patna Central School, Kankarbagh police said.

According to the report, the bus owned by Neeraj Bus Services was coming to Patna when while trying to overtake another vehicle, lost its control, and fell 15 feet in the trench injuring several passengers in the process.

While some passengers managed to crawl out of the bus, others were said to be still trapped in the vehicle.

Officials brought in a heavy duty crane to pull out the bus from the ditch.

Authorities denied any death in the accident as injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
