Gopalganj: Aug. 25, 2007
Residents in Kusaha village in Gopalganj district dug out the bodily remains of 7-year old Golu who went missing earlier this year from near his house under Bhore police station sending the district police in a wild goose chase that eventually resulted in the police's unsolved case files.
As reported, some villagers recovered Golu's clothes in a dry well on the east side of the village near the canal.
The victim's father Mithilesh Kumar Mishra was notified of the discovery who then, with a group of relatives and other villagers, launched a digging operation on Saturday morning eventually finding Golu's skeleton wrapped in the jacket he was wearing during his disappearance.
Even as the Gopalganj police failed to trace the whereabouts of kidnapped seven-year-old boy, Golu Mishra, after seven months, the victim's family dug out his skeleton close to a canal in Kusaha village under Bhore police station on Saturday afternoon.
The remains were sent to a medical lab for tests to confirm the identity of the victim though Mishra and other family members said that the skeleton positively belonged to Golu based on the clothes found on his body and in the well.
A case of abduction was lodged with the local police station following Golu's disappearance on January 27, 2007.
No one was ever charged or arrested in the case.
