Patna: Aug. 27, 2007
The police in Kankarbagh on Monday claimed to have resolved the case of the murdered woman whose badly decomposed body was recovered bundled in a mattress from a flat in the MIG (H) sector last Saturday, Kankarbagh police station in-charge Ramakant Prasad said.
As reported, the victim who appeared to have died of asphyxiation caused by strangulation, had a shady life and earned her livings by engaging in flesh trade.
Puja, in her 30s, after separating from her husband, had been living with a man identified as Gurusharan, who, in the guise of running a voluntary organization operated a brothel with over a dozen other women.
The police, on Monday, arrested Gurusharan from Nalanda district. Under intense police grilling, he admitted of killing Puja, with the help of another woman identified as Sunita, following a dispute over his share of the income earned in flesh trade.
Prasad said the police was able to crack the case in a speedy manner with the help of Puja's estranged husband Vijay Kumar who had maintained no knowledge of his wife's activities or even her whereabouts since she left him a few months ago.
The police is now searching for Sarita who had been missing since the day crime was committed on August 20.
Meanwhile, the police have also recovered a diary maintained by the murdered woman that purportedly contains names of many prominent people including some local politicians and media reporters, it was learnt.
