Jewelry Shop Burglarized in Digha; Rs. 4.5 lakh worth of Jewelry Stolen

Burglars under Digha police station on Monday broke into a jewelry shop and escaped with gems and gold and silver jewelries to the tune of several lakh rupees, the police said.

The incident occurred on late Monday night at the shop located in Jagat Central Market.

According to the police report, the owner of the shop Arvind Kumar, after closing his shop at around 7:30 pm on Monday evening, left for his home in Adarsh Colony.

Next morning, other shop-owners in the market noticed the break-in and notified Kumar of the incident.

The police said the burglars got entry into the shop by cracking all 14 locks and the lock of the safe that contained 300 gram gold, 12 kilogram silver, and an undisclosed amount of cash totaling over 4.5 lakh as claimed by the shop-owner.

An FIR has been lodged in the case as police investigates the burglary.
