Deputy CM Hails Bhojpuri Language
Patna: Aug. 31, 2007
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, while launching the release of Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Vinod's book 'Bhojuri Kahani Sahitya ki Yugin Chetna' in Patna on Friday, said Bhojpuri was a vibrant language that has left its imprint on the world map making it one of the most loved languages across the globe.
"The popularity of Bhojpuri is fast spreading across the globe and the fact that there are people who are working on a full Bhojpuri TV channel is a clear indication of it," Modi said.
"This book is going to be an immense source of information for those engaged in researching the history of Bhojpuri language," he further said.
Acharya Kishore Kunal who presided over the function at Hotel Maurya, said many contemporary Vedic rituals were the direct results of influence of Bhojpuri culture in the society.
"People like Hira Dom and Raghuvir Narain who extensively wrote in Bhojpuri never got credits for their works that they earnestly deserved," Kunal said.
Echoing Acharya Kunal's sentiments, MLC and litterateur Prem Kumar Mani said Hira Dom, through his literature, was writing about the plights of dalits in 1914 when the very concept of dalit as we know it today did not exist.
While veteran poet Satyanarayan managed the event, others who spoke on the occasion included BJP leader Kiran Ghai, Dr. Ram Kishore Singh, Braj Kishore Dubey, former Central Minister Muni, Anil Sulabh, and Satyendra Narayan Kushwaha.
