Naxals Blow up Railway Track in Saran District
Patna: Dec. 2, 2007
Domestic terrorists with allegiance to the Maoist faction of the Communist Party of India, on late Saturday night, blew up a railway track near Rajapatti station in Saran district during their day-long statewide bandh in protest against the arrest of one of their high-profile comrades.
While no one was said to be injured in the blasts, train traffic in the Chapra-Gopalganj section of East-Central Railways was disrupted for more than ten hours, railway officials said in Patna.
As reported by the Rajapatti Assistant Station Master Uday Prasad Singh, nearly a dozen Maoist extremists wearing fatigues and armed with explosives blew up a section of the track near the outer signal of the station at around 11:00 pm.
The Maoists then barged into the Station Master's office and after distributing Communist propaganda leaflets, escaped without any resistance.
It may be recalled that the Patna police recently arrested Lalbabu Sahni, a.k.a. Bhaskarji, and one of his associates, from a house in Kumharar area while also seizing a huge cache of arms and explosives.
