Patna Book Fair Ready for Take off
Patna: Dec. 6, 2007
Organizers of the 16th Patna Book Fair worked overtime on Thursday to give the final touch to the 1.65 lakh square feet fair that is scheduled to open for public on Friday. With nearly 570 stalls already reserved by book vendors and other resellers, the organizers are touting the fair as 'bigger and better' than ever before.
As before, the fair would primarily feature books from dozens of national and international publishers showcasing their products on various topics ranging from politics to education. With names like Taslima Nasreen, Vishnu Nagar, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mannu Bhandari, and Salman Rushdie attached with the Patna Book Fair, organizers have all the reason to anticipate a grand success in their endeavor that sets Patna apart from other large cities in the nation.
Among the literary celebrities who are expected to make their presence felt at this year's book fair include such names as critically-acclaimed film-maker, author, and poet Gulzar, film-maker Prakash Jha, noted writer Prabhash Joshi, and Sonal Mansingh.
With more and more publishers showing their interests in the Patna fair each year, the organizers, for the first time in the fair's 23-year old history, had to turned down some of the publishers in the lack of additional space, officials said.
