Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, while inaugurating the Saras Mela at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday, said the NDA government was committed to improve the conditions of villagers in Bihar to prevent them from migrating to large cities.

"We have introduced many schemes and have several others in the pipeline to bring the big city amenities to the villages in Bihar that is full of talented people. Unfortunately, the product they make do not reach the larger markets in the lack of a coordinated, organized marketing system," Modi said.

To promote products made in Bihar villages, the government is considering setting up a 'Patna Haat' on the line of 'Delhi Haat' that became an instant hit from the day it went into operation, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Modi said that while changes under the NDA government had started to become perceptible, the state was far from achieving its dream of a better Bihar thanks to the fifteen years of misrule in the state.

Following the Deputy Chief Minister's inaugural speech, the fair presented the traditional Mithila folk song performed by Pandit Vipin Kumar Mishra and Pandit Rajshekhar followed by the singing of Vande Mataram by the students of Volvin Academy and other cultural presentations.
