Digha Resident Shot, Killed by Drunk Acquaintances
Patna: Dec. 9, 2007
Criminals allegedly under the influence of alcohol in Nirala Nagar under the Digha police station on Saturday night shot and killed a painter at his home in front of his father and escaped, the police said.
The victim who was identified as Intekhab Alam, the son of Zaheer Alam, was rushed to the nearby Kurji Hospital where he died during the treatment.
Zaheer Alam, in his police report, said that the entire family was watching TV in the living room when there was a knock on the door.
When they opened the door, they found Digha resident Anil Kumar and another person in a state of drunkenness and engaging in a loud argument. When Intekhab tried to calm them down by saying he would talk to them on Sunday, Anil Kumar pulled out a gun and shot Intekhab in his stomach from a very close range.
The criminals then escaped on their motorcycles.
Angry residents of Digha, on Sunday blocked the Danapur-Gandhi Maidan Road demanding arrests of Intekhab's killers. After more than an hour of negotiation by local police authorities, the blockade was removed and traffic was restored in the area.
Raids are being conducted to apprehend Anil and his associate.
