Teachers under the banner of Bihar State Elementary School Teachers Association and Bihar State Middle School Association, in a joint effort on Monday, staged a rally outside the Assembly building in Patna to press for their 5-point demands including implementation of the Common School System in Bihar schools, raise in their wages, and filling up of all teaching positions.

A rally was also organized by the state informal teachers' union from Gandhi Maidan to the R-Block to press for their own demands including payment of their salaries and no sacking of those teachers who obtained less than 45 percent in their Intermediate exams.

The issue was also taken up by the opposition leaders in the state Assembly.

"The fact that the government has chosen to ignore the recommendations made by the former Foreign Secretary Muchkund Dubey speaks a lot about the intention of this government," union leader Kedarnath Pandey said.
