Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while responding to a question posed by some opposition leaders during the zero hour at Bihar Assembly on Thursday, said that he was equally concerned at the plights and demands of the unaided teachers in Bihar and soon something positive would come out of all the efforts being made by the government.
"We all are doing everything in our power to bring an end to their grievance and are quite positive about the outcome. However, just because the opposition leaders are raising ruckus over the issue does not mean it could be done by the stroke of a pen," said the Chief Minister.
Earlier, the Speaker of the House Uday Narayan Chowdhary dismissed the proposal of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shyam Rajak and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Dr. Achyutanand to adjourn the Assembly on the unaided teachers' issue on the ground of it being against the House rules.
Kumar also appealed to the leaders of all parties to ask the Central government to give a raise in the Below Poverty Level (BPL) quota saying the number of families under the BPL category had risen sharply while only a marginal number of people have gotten off the previous list.
The Chief Minister also asked the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav to continue to work on completing railway projects and he would personally ensure that nothing comes in the way of development.
Meanwhile, protests continued outside the Assembly building on topics ranging from teachers' plight to Rabri Devi's security issue.
