A day before the 16th Patna Book Fair folds up its show at Gandhi Maidan, thousands of book-lovers, ignoring the chilling temperature that dipped to nearly 7º Celsius on Monday, made a beeline at the fair and made it one of the most profitable day for the book sellers who, until now, had not been too enthused by the lukewarm sale.

Besides hunting for the just the right book and liberally opening their wallets, the visitors had plenty of other things to do at the fair.

There was poetry recital by the young poet Shubhesh Karn and then the visitors had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Devshankar Naveen, the Hindi editor of the National Book Trust, under the 'Meet the Writer' program.

The photography exhibition sponsored by the India Today and the 'nukkad natak' arranged by the students of Arvind Mahila College drew large crowd while the quiz competition organized by the Rang Vidya organization stole the attention of the young school and college students as did the career counseling corner organized by professionals at the Kedarnath Mishra Prabhat stage.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the Gandhi Maidan, regional Saras Mela was drawing equally large crowd to the Kathak dance of Neelam Chowdhary, also one of the administrative officials of the fair, and to the Bhojpuri songs sung by Malini Awasthi who kept the audience mesmerized by her folk songs in the presence of state Rural Development Minister Baidyanath Prasad Mahto.
