The state government on Monday, in view of the Muslim festival of Bakrid on December 21 and 22, has ordered heightened security in more than 150 sensitive spots in Patna district while giving the District Magistrate's across the state to take stern actions against troublemakers and impose curfew under Section 144 as and where warranted.
In a joint directive issued by Patna District Magistrate Dr. B. Rajendra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kundan Krishnan, ordered presence of a senior police official and a Judicial Magistrate at all 162 areas identified as sensitive.
Altogether 208 Judicial Magistrates have been deputed and directed to invoke section 107, 116, and 151 against anyone who tries to stir up communal trouble or engages in spreading rumor with the intention to cause communal disharmony, Dr. Rajendra said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, there was a huge rush to buy goats for Bakrid as thousands of Muslim customers showed up at the Patna's main goat market making it the best business day for dozens of goat traders.
