Doctors in Bihar Livid over Health Minister's Comments
Patna: Dec. 18, 2007
Doctors in Bihar, enraged by the insulting comments recently made by none other than the Union Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss, took out a rally in Patna on Tuesday and burnt the minister's effigy while demanding his resignation for hurting the sentiments of all the health professionals across the state.
The rally began at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and arrived at the Dak Bungalow Crossing where they burnt Ramadoss' effigy amidst slogans demanding an immediate apology from him and his resignation from the UPA cabinet.
Hundreds of members of Indian Medical Association, doctors and students of the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), and Bihar State Medical Teachers' Association took part in the rally while promising to intensify their stir if the Health Minister did not withdraw his statement unequivocally and failed to tender his resignation.
As reported before, Ramadoss, in a recent meeting in New Delhi had said that doctors from Bihar were giving a bad name to the entire health system of the nation.
