Bihari Brains are the Best; Says Prakash Jha

Patna: Dec. 18, 2007

Noted film-maker Prakash Jha, during his appearance at the concluding day of the 16th Patna Book Fair at Gandhi Maidan on Tuesday praised the people of Bihar for having the 'finest brains' anywhere while reminding them to fine-tune their attitude with emphasis on discipline and a more pragmatic approach to life.

"There is nothing a Bihari cannot do. They are in top places across the globe and their dedication and love for their state is unmatched. All they need is a little more discipline and they will be unbeatable," said the makers of many films like Gangajal and Apharan.

Jha also emphasized the need for a change in Bihari mindset on economic and market forces saying until people understood the mechanism of market and its impact on the society, not much could be done in the state.

The film-maker also talked about the voracious Bihari readers.

"They have an immense hunger for reading and acquiring knowledge. It's no wonder then that Biharis are running the show all over the world including in the fields of academics and service industry," Jha said.

On the issue of development in Bihar under the Nitish government, Jha said that in two years, the NDA government had been able to pull out the wheels from the deep mud. "The wheels are still rusty and brakes are jammed and only an economic revolution could put this vehicle back on the road," he said.

Jha also released a book 'Doosra Paksha' written by Chandan and gave out awards to three winners of various competitions held at the fair.
