Prove the Allegations or Resign: Bihar Doctors to Ramadoss
Patna: Dec. 19, 2007
Doctors in Bihar under the banner of Indian Medical Association (IMA) refused to give any room for wiggling to the Union Health Minister Ambumani Ramadoss for his disparaging remarks about health professionals from Bihar saying either the minister prove his allegations or submit his resignation.
Going after the Health Minister's scalp, IMA national president Dr. Ajay Kumar and Secretary Dr. S. N. Mishra, characterizing the comments as irresponsible, said the Health Minister had intentionally targeted doctors from Bihar to perpetuate hatred towards Biharis in general and if he failed to provide concrete evidence to back up his claims, the Prime Minister must throw him from the Cabinet.
The protesting doctors also appealed to all Central Ministers and Members of Parliament from Bihar to lend support to their cause and demand sacking of Ramadoss who has shown himself to be an ignorant person with no understanding of regional culture or history.
As reported before, Ramadoss, at a meeting in Delhi a week ago, had said Bihari doctors were giving bad name to the medical profession around the world.
