Nitish Complains about Central Leaders from Bihar
Patna: Dec. 19, 2007
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at the meeting of the National Development Council in New Delhi on Wednesday, lashed out at the Union Ministers from Bihar for continuing to hurl criticism at the state government calling them uncalled for and against the principles of the democratic structure.
Without mentioning any names, Kumar said these ministers were using the federal resources to wage a war against a constitutionally elected state government which is matter of serious concern.
"It is clear that some Central Ministers from Bihar are actively engaging in a propaganda warfare to denigrate the NDA government in the state. These ministers are expected to provide support to the state government. Instead, they are posing impediments in the path of developmental works in the state," the Chief Minister said.
Kumar also talked about other issues concerning Bihar including questioning the validity of the national statistics on the poverty eradication in the state, raising the power quota for Bihar, redistribution of coal needed for power production, and the Center's overall contribution in the building of roads and highways in the state.
The Chief Minister said he hoped the Central government would give priorities to setting up an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Central universities in the state.
