Nitish, Mulayam only Praise for each other
Patna: Dec. 22, 2007
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and the president of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav, during a function to mark the birth anniversary of socialist leader Kapildeo Singh in Patna on Saturday said Bihar in the last 15 years or so lacked leadership resulting in its steep decline on all fronts.
"However, now with Nitish Kumar at the helm of the affairs, Bihar is well on its way to progress," said the Samajwadi leader who was welcomed by none other than Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself who said Bihar gave ample opportunities to several socialist leaders in the past but besides exploitation of the people and the resources, they all failed to bring in any change in the state.
"If all the true socialists come together today, they would be a force that would be impossible to beat," Yadav said lamenting most socialists, after acquiring power, forgot all about those who voted them in the first place.
"Power should be used to bring justice to the poor people and not for one's own interest. While the idea of socialism is alive and well, the number of true socialists has dwindled in the recent years, the former UP Chief Minister said.
Yadav also released a book on Kapildeo Singh while Singh's wife honored the editor of the book Ravindra Bharti.
Kumar and Yadav both praised each other saying in spite of the fact that the two leaders belonged to different political parties, in principle they agreed with each other on social issues and treated each other as brothers.
