People in Patna had a tough time on Wednesday as the auto-rickshaw strike entered into its third day with no sign of a talk between the auto-rickshaw owners and the government as the district administration declared the strike illegal saying the tempo association failed to notify the government about their intention to go on an indefinite strike.

While some of the representatives of Patna Auto-Rickshaw Owners Association were seen loitering outside the Chief Minister’s residence in the hope of landing a negotiation with Nitish Kumar, ADM Awadhesh Kumar said there was no question of talks between the strikers and the government since the association failed to submit its list of demands or notify the government prior to going on a strike.

“You try to negotiate first by presenting your demands. If the talks fail and the government refuses to agree to your demands only then you go on strike. However, the Patna Auto-Rickshaw Owners Association chose to resort to strike and now that the reality has started to sink in, it is looking to hold talks with the government,” said the ADM.

On Wednesday, the protestors burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister at the Patna Junction roundabout and at Pataliputra Chowk accusing him of ignoring the demands of the auto-rickshaw owners.
