Abducted Begusarai Children Recovered
Khagaria: January 20, 2007
Much to the relief of the Nitish government and the parents of the two boys who were abducted from Begusarai on Thursday, the state police, on Saturday morning, recovered the missing children on Highway 107 in Khagaria district and arrested two persons in the case.
As per the report, based on some tips, the police staged a roadblock on Highway 107. During the search of each vehicle, the police found the two children in a Maruti car that was going from Alamnagar towards Maheshkhunt.
Two men in the car identified, as Paras Sao and Bhullu Sao, were taken into police custody.
As the news of the recovery of Ashish and Khushwant spread in the area, angry men and women set a house and a shop located on Chatti Road on fire.
The house was said to be where the abductors had kept the two children confined since their abduction from Begusarai on January 18, the police said.
The children, the sons of a Begusarai businessman, were kidnapped while being taken to their school on a motorcycle driven by their uncle.
Sunil Kumar, DIG, Munger, said the Begusarai police led by police captain Vinay Kumar did an excellent job in identifying and tracking the criminals.
"With pressure to release the children building up from all sides including concerns shown by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the criminals were probably taking the children back to Begusarai to set them free but were caught before they could reach their destination," the DIG said.
