CM Mourns Death of Former PM Chandrashekhar

Photo by Shashi UttamChief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday expressed his condolence over the passing away of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar who died at a Delhi hospital after battling multiple Myeloma, a form of cancer, and other old age-related illness for over three months.

"Shri Chandrashekhar's death is a huge loss for the nation. He was a man of principle and a champion of the poor," Kumar said in his message.

A 3-day mourning period has been declared in the state by the government with schools, colleges, and government offices to remain closed on Monday.

The scheduled weekly janata darbar has also been called off in view of the state mourning period, it was learnt.

Other leaders in Bihar including Governor R. S. Gavai, Shivanand Tiwari, Shyam Rajak, Uday Narain Chowdhary, and Sadanand Singh also expressed their condolences for the departed soul known among his peers as the 'Young Turk'.
