Ruckus at Delimitation Commission Meeting

Delimitation Commission officials in Patna on Monday had to brave the wraths of several legislators who lodged their complaints about plans to rezoning their districts calling the move illegal and immoral while urging the Commission to reconsider their decision in the interest of the people of their constituencies.
Amidst shouting and yelling at the meeting held at S. K. Memorial Hall, leaders from Aurangabad expressed their profound disappointment with the proposed delimitation of their district saying the move would put the people in extreme inconvenience while also hampering the developmental works in their area.
While Aurangabad parliamentarian objected to the plan to declare Aurangabad constituency a reserved seat, representatives from Gaya demanded reservation for their constituency.
Since the population of backwards in Gaya was 29%, it was only appropriate to declare it a reserved constituency, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan told the commission members Justice Kuldeep Singh, Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswamy, and other members.
Similar protests were made by representatives from Jehanabad, Jamui, and Arwal.
Among others who attended the meeting included state chief election commissioner Sudhir Kumar Rakesh, state election commission chairperson J. K. Dutta, Lallan Singh, Ramkripal Yadav, Jagadanand Singh, and other leaders.
