Former Patna BDO Testifies in Papiya Ghosh Murder Case

The prosecution in the high-profile Papiya Ghosh murder case, on Tuesday, presented the then BDO of Patna sadar Nirmal Kumar who told the court that it was he who verified the content of the recovered items stolen from Professor Ghosh's house following the double murder of Prof. Ghosh and her live in help Malti Devi.
Kumar, who was the 24th witness in the ongoing Papiya Ghosh murder trial before a Special Fast Court Judge, in his testimony, said on December 6, 2006, he went to the Pataliputra police station at the behest of the court to certify the recovered items earlier stolen from Prof. Ghosh.
"There were three witnesses at the time when a list of the recovered items was made and I was the one who certified the list," Kumar said.
The SDO's testimony would continue on Wednesday.
Prof. Ghosh, a Patna University teacher, was stabbed to death at her home in Pataliputra Colony in Patna on December 3, 2006.
The intruders also killed Malti Devi, an elderly woman who lived with Prof. Ghosh.
Four persons were arrested nearly two weeks after the crimes were committed.
Most of the stolen items, including the Maruti Car and a personal computer were recovered on December 15.
