Miscreants Desecrate Gandhi Statue at Aurangabad School

Patna: July 14, 2007

Vandals in Aurangabad district broke into a school premise on Friday and desecrated a statue of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi triggering communal tension in the area, officials said.

The government school located in Haspura block was vandalized sometimes between 8:00 pm and 1:00 am on Saturday night. The statue installed by the then Chief Minister of Bihar Bindeshwari Dubey nearly two decades ago was broken beyond repair, Prahlad Ram, the school principal, said.

The police is investigating the case though no arrest has been made till the time of reporting.

Security has been beefed up to prevent any communal outburst in the district.
