Patna Hellish after Daylong Rain

Patna: July 15, 2007

Rain in Patna. Photo by Shashi UttamHeavy rain in Patna on Sunday once again turned the entire capital city into a dirty lake as people in Kankarbagh, Dariapur, Rajendra Nagar, Kadam Kuan, Bakerganj, Meethapur, Punaichak and other areas faced tough times going from one place to another.

The rain started at around 8:00 am and off and on drizzle, sometimes with gushing wind, continued to pound the city throughout the day.

Cars and two-wheelers were seen stranded everywhere though students escaped the hellish situation thanks to the weekend.

In Kankarbagh, the underground sewage under construction collapsed in heavy rain flooding the nearby area causing a protest by the local residents.

The pathetic quandary of the city once again exposed the government's claims of a better, cleaner Patna. With blames flying in all directions, hellish situation in Patna during rain is not something the politicians are capable of resolving or so it seems.
