Leaders in Bihar cutting across party lines on Tuesday demanded action against the person responsible for flying a damaged-but-repaired national flag on the state Assembly building calling it a shameful incident and an insult to the nation.

The matter was brought to the attention of state leaders after electronic media present at the Assembly premises noticed the L-shaped repaired patch on the right side of the white section of the flag.

While the damaged flag was promptly replaced by a newer one, leaders from Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) wasted no Damaged Indian flag. Photo by Shashi Uttamtime in demanding punitive measures against the person responsible for the gaffe.

"I would ask the Speaker of the House Uday Narain Chowdhary to look into the matter that has embarrassed all of us, said RJD legislator Shyam Rajak.
