City Commissioner Rana Awadhesh Singh, despite evident signs of water-logging in all areas in Patna following heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday, parsed with the terms water-logging and water accumulation saying Patna had no water-logging problem and what was seen on the streets were mere accumulation of water caused by rain that plagues nearly all cities in the nation.
"This is quite normal in other cities as well and is no cause for panic," Singh said adding if the water remained on the streets for 3-4 days, then there was a problem of water-logging.
"In Patna, only a few places still had water on the streets and that is where we need to concentrate to avoid any such future mess," the Commissioner said.
Ground reality, however, belied Singh's claims. In several areas, people still had to wade through ankle to knee-deep water to go from one point to another. Several two-wheelers and autos were seen stranded in many areas with Kankarbagh leading the pack.
Meanwhile, the youth wing of the Nationalist Congress Party on Tuesday took out an anti-government rally and burnt the effigies of Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav for failing to free Patna of perpetual water-logging problem.
