Nitish Leads Cultural Entourage to Mauritius

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is all set to leave for Mauritius on a six-day official trip that is expected to strengthen cultural and business ties with the nation that has deep roots in Bihar.
Carrying soil from Buxar, water from the river Ganges, several gift items including Madhubani paintings, silver, wooden, and stone items unique to Bihar, the 30-member team led by the Chief Minister would take off from Patna Airport for Delhi on Wednesday. The team would arrive at Mauritius after a 4-hour flight where he would be accorded state welcome.
The 30-member team also includes Art and Culture Minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, Industry Minister Gautam Singh, Food and Supplies Minister Suchitra Sinha, Bihar Industries Association (BIA) President K. P. S. Kesari, Bihar Chamber of Commerce president O. P. Sah, legislator Renu Devi, state Attorney General P. K. Shahi, Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah, Art and Culture secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, Industrial Development Commissioner Vijay Raghawan, and a host of other officials.
Artists comprising the Team Bihar would present a special cultural show 'From Bihar, to Mauritius' while Kumar himself would address a special session of the Mauritius Assembly in Bhojpuri dialect.
A 15-member team of artists led by Bhojpuri film star Manoj Tiwari would also leave for Mauritius on Thursday to present Bhojpuri songs and dances to the Mauritians.
The Chief Minister will also promote the 'Trace your roots' scheme launched by the NDA government to encourage Mauritians to visit Bihar to find their ancestral source.
Last month, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramghoolam invited Bihar Chief Minister to visit Mauritius and take part in 'Bihar Week', a government-sponsored cultural showcase to be held between July 27 and 31.
