Ganga Boat Picnic Launched by Tourism Department

Photo by Shashi UttamBihar Tourism Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, on Friday, inaugurated the motorboat picnic in Ganga scheme to promote tourism in the state saying the plan would soon be extended to accommodate a large number of tourists or other fun-loving people in the state.

Under the current plan, two boats will ferry visitors from the Engineering College ghat to a natural island in the middle of the Ganges on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 am and 5 pm.

The land surrounded by water has been developed to provide recreational facilities to the visitors, Yadav said.

Boat picnic launched. Photo by Shashi UttamBesides a play ground, the island also features food and drink stalls for the visitors' convenience.

With a ticket price set at a paltry Rs. 50 per individual, the plan offers free bus ride from visitor's home or hotel to the ghat and back if tickets are purchased in a block of 14, officials said.

Tickets are available at Hotel Kautilya, Moinul Haq Stadium, Patna Airport, and at the ghat, they said.
