Photo by Shashi UttamHundreds of irate people in Rajiv Nagar under Pataliputra police station in Patna on Tuesday blocked the road and forced shops to shut down in protest against the beating of an youth by some Central Reserve Protection Force (CRPF).

As reported, a man named Jaswant Singh was in his car when he was hit by a CRPF vehicle in Rajiv Nagar. When Singh raised a protest, the CRPF jawans came out of their vehicle and roughed up Singh.

Thanks to the intervention by some people in the area, the scuffle was brought to an end but not before an angry crowd blocked the road for two hours demanding actions against the erring CRPF jawans.

The protestors also complained about the jawans being drunk and engaging in violent behavior on a regular basis while also accusing the police of not taking any action against them despite several complaints lodged by the residents of Rajiv Nagar.

The road block was finally removed after DSP (Law and Order) Amar Singh intervened and promised to look into their grievance and taking actions against the drunk CRPF jawans.
