Electricity Board Employees Roughed Up by Frustrated Consumers

Fed up with constant power cut throughout Tuesday evening, dozens of irate consumers in Kurji area in Patna attacked the office of the power company on Tuesday nigh and beat up its employees while also vandalizing the place, officials said on Wednesday.

As reported, over three dozen angry men barged into the office of the electricity board in Kurji area and ransacked the place while hurling abuses at the employees and beating them up.

At least one person sustained injuries in his head and another broke his arm when attacked by the miscreants.

The crowd destroyed furniture, office equipment, and employees' motorcycles and left before the police could arrive, the power company employees said.

A spokesperson for the power board said power cuts in the area were caused by a malfunctioning transformer and attempts were being made to rectify the problem.

An FIR has been lodged against unidentified miscreants at the Pataliputra police station.
