Fire Brigade, Ambulance to Act in Tandem Now
Patna: June 16, 2007
Taking a cue from the western world, the state administration, in a move to bring sweeping reforms in the existing emergency services in Bihar, has announced its decision to dispatch fire brigade and ambulance in case of any emergency situation to provide better, more efficient services to the people of Bihar.
To achieve this goal, the state government is going to equip the fire department with 32 ambulances with complete para-medical facilities to deal with any injury caused by accidental or arson-related fire.
Ambulances would be made available to fire departments in all districts by the end of this year, sources at the police headquarters said on Saturday.
The new plan also includes a high-tech training center for firefighters to be opened in Bihta next year that would train new recruits in the latest technology involving firefighting, it was learnt.
Under the current administration, new fire stations have been opened in Buxar and Sheikhpura and more are slated to come up in several other towns across the state.
