Leaders and academicians in Patna on Monday celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of Dr. Anugrah Narayan Sinha by organizing various events throughout the city while paying rich tribute to the educationist and a leader who played a very prominent role in the Independence struggle against the British rule while emphasizing the importance of education in Bihar.

At the official function held at the state Assembly campus, deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and former Chief Minister of Bihar Jagannath Mishra paid their tributes to Dr. Sinha.

"Dr. Sinha's contribution in the field of education and freedom struggle of India is invaluable and it is because of his relentless pursuit for excellence, people of Bihar are reaping rich benefit even after 50 years since his passing away," Modi said.

At A. N. College, students and teachers paid their respects to the man after whom the college is named. Governor R. S. Gavai, who arrived with his wife, laid the foundation stone of a new girls' hostel to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sinha.
