Govindacharya is Averse to all Parties, Including BJP
Patna: June 19, 2007
Former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and a self-described champion of patriotism, Govindacharya, at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday, blasted all political parties saying they all had one thing in common and that was to remain in power by any means and the interests of the people were far from their minds.
Taking a direct stab at his former party, Govindacharya said the BJP leaders in Bihar, before and after the last Assembly elections, made a number of promises but failed in keeping them despite being in power for over a year and a half.
The former BJP leader also criticized all political parties, including the leftists, for not promoting Indian products over exported items. "The government is doing politics even on Special Economic Zone (SEZ). While the BJP in West Bengal is opposing the CPI-M of the SEZ policies, it is opposing the same policy in Chhatisgarh and Rajasthan," Govindacharya said.
Promising to launch a nationwide protest against materialism, Govindacharya said he would resume his 'Alakh Yatra' to raise a sense of patriotism among the Indians who had been blindly aping western culture while abandoning their own.
