Bihar Engineers Wish to See Kalam as President
Patna: June 20, 2007
Not happy with the current horde of president wannabes, engineers in Bihar under the banner of Vishwesharaiya Memorial Trust on Wednesday took out a peaceful march in Patna demanding retaining of the current President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam insisting none of the proposed candidates could touch the 'greatness' of Kalam.
The march dubbed as 'Run for Technology' started at the Vishwesharaiya building and culminated at the Income Tax roundabout where the participants demanded keeping Dr. Kalam as the President of India because of his non-partisanship approach, contribution in the field of science and humanity, and his vision for a better India.
Event organizer D. K. Bakshi, while talking to reporters, said the engineers of Bihar were solidly behind Dr. Kalam and only under his presidency, India could hope to attain his Vision 2020, a concept floated by the President denoting India as one of the major economic power by the year 2020.
More than a hundred engineers and IT experts participated in the march.
