Kashmir will Forever be Part of India: BJP Leader
Patna: June 23, 2007
Senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and in-charge of Bihar affairs, while attending a seminar on 'Kashmir Problems and Terrorism' in Patna on Saturday, said Kashmir was an integral part of the nation and no power in the world could separate it from India.
Organized to honor the contribution of educationist and freedom fighter Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who also championed the cause integrating Jammu and Kashmir with India, the event saw the presence of other BJP leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, party state president Radha Mohan Singh, Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, former Central Minister Dr. C. P. Thakur, PHED minister Dr. Prem Kumar, legislators Nitin Navin, Asha Devi, BJP state spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha, and Patna's newly-elected mayor Sanjay Kumar, among others.
Mishra accused the Congress-led UPA government at the Center for being soft on Pakistan-sponsored terrorists while jeopardizing the national security of the nation.
"Separatists and terrorists are once again raising their voices and intensifying their anti-India activities thanks to a government that has refused to deal with the growing terrorism in the Kashmir valley. This is in complete contrast to the philosophy and works of Dr. Mukherjee who not only resigned from the Nehru government but sacrificed his life championing the cause of a united India with Kashmir an integral part of it," Mishra said.
The BJP leader said when Pakistan realized it could not win a war with India militarily; it launched a proxy war in Kashmir by unleashing terrorists on innocent Kashmiris.
"In the absence of a clear policy against such elements, terrorist outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and SIMI have started to spread their tentacles with the blessings from Pakistan's secret service," Mishra said.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also lamented the situation in Kashmir that he termed as 'very dangerous'.
"This has destroyed tourism in the valley and has taken its toll on the locals who have made it abundantly clear that they wanted to remain a part of the republic of India," Modi said.
