Gaya Judge Complains of Poor Care at PMCH
Patna: June 25, 2007
Gaya District and Session Judge Amarkant Jha, who along with his wife Veena Jha, driver Mohammed Irshad, and bodyguard Rajiv Kumar, remain confined at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) after incurring serious injuries in a head-on collision on Patna-Jehanabad Road on Sunday, lamented poor care and absence of doctors at the state's premier health care facility saying if he could be treated this bad, how other patients were being treated was anybody's guess.
"Except for Dr. Girish Sharan of Neurosurgery department who came to visit us this morning, no one came to see us or check on our conditions," judge Jha said.
"We had been waiting here all day for some doctor to come and check on us but not only no one came, they even did not provide us urine container causing us immense problem" he said adding his wife who is lodged in the Dr. B. K. Sinha unit had similar harrowing experience.
Mohammed Irshad, the driver, who sustained maximum injuries also remained ignored for most of the days.
When the hospital superintendent heard about the complaints, he personally visited all the victims and assured them of good care and treatment.
As reported before, Judge Jha's vehicle, while going to Jehanabad from Patna on Sunday, was hit by an oncoming pick-up truck injuring all four occupants of the car.
The accident is being seen by many as a deliberate attempt to kill Jha and his family members in view of the fact that just a couple of days ago, the judge threw the book on former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator Rajendra Yadav when he gave him 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in a double kidnapping case.
