A number of veterans of the 1974 JP movement against the imposition of Emergency by the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi took out a 'Black Day' rally on Tuesday and put flowers at the statue of Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan on their way to Income Tax roundabout where the rally turned into a public meeting.

"The Total Revolution launched by JP changed the course of the country. Thanks to the sacrifices of the Loknayak and hard work of his followers, no government in India will ever dare to impose Emergency on its citizens again," said the event president Raghupati on the 33rd anniversary of the imposition of Emergency.

Several participants of the rally also took vows to keep the dream of JP alive by continuing to fight against any autocratic government.

A seminar by Navnirman Manch was also organized to mark the event.

"33 years ago on this day, democracy was murdered by the then government of India. It was a dark period in the history of modern India," Manch founder Kishore Kumar said.

A statewide meeting of the veterans of JP movement was also organized at Ravindra Bhawan in which several leaders from the Nitish government took part.
