Speeding Truck Crushes Teen Daughter of BMP Jawan

Patna: June 26, 2007

Once again showing utter disregard for human safety or life, a speeding truck near Patna Airport on Tuesday morning, hit the 18-year old daughter of BMP constable Satyanarayan Mishra causing her death at the hospital.

According to the police report, Khushboo, the daughter of Mishra, had just left home with some friends to go to a nearby coaching institute. As she reached near the BMP Colony gate, a truck loaded with goods, hit her throwing her several feet away.

Khushboo's friends jumped into a ditch to save their lives as the truck driver and his assistant abandoned the vehicle and ran away to avoid public wratch.

Khushboo was rushed to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where she died of her injuries.

The incident caused an uproar in the area where hundreds of men and women blocked the road between Jagdeo Path and Phulwarisharif and damaged passing-by vehicles to express their anger while demanding compensation for the victim's family and construction of speed breakers in the area to force drivers to drive slowly.

Senior police officials arrived at the accident site and tried to assuage the angry crowd but to no avail. Demanding arrest of the killer driver without delay, the protestors refused to remove the blockade that went into the late night causing much inconvenience to the commuters.
